I’ve been MIA. I’m sorry. Really, I am. Life has thrown some real live haymakers at me. But, I’m still standing and that’s all that matters. Right?
Since April, life has changed drastically for me. First off, after dozens and dozens of doctor’s visits, I was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). That explains my lifetime of chronic pain and other health ailments. In addition to my PCOS diagnosis, I was hit with a Type 2 diabetes diagnosis. I know… It was terrible. It seems that I have the insulin-resistant PCOS. Sigh. That explains the dark patches on my face, neck and other places.
Since my diagnosis, I’ve started a low carb, high fat way of eating. It has done me well. As of today, I’ve sent 36 pounds to the fat cemetery and my A1C went from 8.5 to 6.5 in about 2 months. Yep, I’m kicking PCOS in the ass. Although, 6.5 is still considered pre-diabetic, I’m convinced that I got this.
So, in a nutshell, that’s what’s been going on with me. I have worked hard to get my health in order. I’ve also been working out since June with T25 and walking. I’m doing what I have to do to take it one day at a time, one step at a time and one bite at a time.
Now that I’m feeling good again and know what’s wrong with me, I can do my best to defeat and/or maintain this condition. Most importantly, I’m not giving up. I’m going toe-to-toe with PCOS and I’m determined to get the W!
